Rocks, lots of rocks.

We left Twizel around 9 after getting all our stuff sorted. We handed in our key and off we went to Oamaru with many stops along the way. Our first stop were the clay cliffs, roughly 30 mins outside of Twizel, these looked boring as.
The parents were of course very keen because geology, but the kids couldn't be stuffed looking at rocks. The kids claims of wanting to leave fell to deaf ears, and they were glad they did as it turned out to be a lot of fun. There were lots of places to climb and run around even though the view wasn't that great.
Dad managed to climb with his best looking son even with his knee which they both enjoyed. The trip ended up being kind of fun and we were glad that we went.

Off we went again. We were heading to the town of Kurow and then dad had another great idea. To look at a damn dam, because we've never seen these before. This was the most mega boringest thing ever, but the rest of the family sat in the car and ate chocolate.
Eventually we were moving again and we got to Kurow where we went to some cafe that was really good, Feliz and Sage. The food was good and they had a funny store attached where socks were bought. The coffee was apparently really good which was a good plus. The worse looking son even gave his first five star review.

On the road again. And now signs for more Māori rock art, so off we went. These places were easily detected as they were on the main road and had clear signs unlike the stupid town of cave. The art was cool but the sites had faced rockfalls before so we didn't hang around as we valued our lives.
From here we went to the elephant rocks. These, unlike the boys suspected were also cool, they looked nothing like elephants but they were good fun to climb and jump around, which led to some cool pictures.

Back on the road again, for the last time. We finally arrived to Oamaru and checked into our accommodation. We were in a Backpackers inn, which had some very nice beds and we chilled for a bit before Eliza called us. The brothers answered the call first and had a small conversation with her before the parents wanted to have a more serious conversation so they kicked the boys out. The boys headed out on their typical Maccas run, where they were thoroughly impressed at the service and the frozen L&P before going to Farmers to finally buy the bathrobe the worse looking brother had wanted. He settled on the full 'old man fit' as he calls it, a bathrobe and slippers before heading home to disappointed parents as they did not get his purchase.

The best looking brother fell asleep shortly after and is not aware of the events during this time, other than the pasta and tuna we had for dinner which was delicious. Thanks mum! We had a little bit more downtime before changing into warmer clothes to watch the penguins. There were penguins everywhere shortly after we arrived and we now regretted not taking the camera. The penguins were very cute and they were very annoying and loud. Once we finally headed away from the 'penguin watching zone' we walked through Harbour Street to get back to our accommodation, where we were met with even more penguins. These ones were juvenile, waiting for their parents and becoming more and more bold and brave and heading out into the street. After a bit of time spent here we finally back to our accommodation and off the sleep quickly as it was quite late.
